In a combination of event and National League play at the PacNW Winter Classic over the previous two weekends, several Spokane Sounders sides performed well on the west side. Two teams reached the semifinals and final in their tournaments while a number of teams continued their fantastic form in the Northwest Conference in National League matches at Starfire.

National League Northwest Conference Highlights

The G2000 ladies were unbeaten on the weekend (2-0-1) with wins over GS Surf and PDX United along with a draw against Westside Timbers, maintaining their unbeaten National League at 3-0-2.

Ranked seventh in the nation in the GotSoccer.com rankings, the G2001 ladies remain unbeaten in National League play at 3-0-1 with their win over WPFC and a draw against CFC Zenith.

The G2002 ladies improved to 5-2-0 in National League play with a 2-1-0 weekend, earning victories against Indie Chicas and Eastside Timbers before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Washington Timbers in their final game of the event.

The G2003 girls also did well on the weekend, rebounding from a narrow loss to PacNW to earn a win against Washington Rush on Sunday and finished the weekend 1-2-0 for a 1-2-2 National League record.

Also going unbeaten on the weekend were the G2004 Rave girls with a 1-0-2 mark and one goal allowed. They opened with a 3-1 win over Idaho Rush before playing to scoreless draws against Eastside Timbers and ETFC.

The B2002 side were a perfect 3-0-0 on the weekend with wins over Eastside FC, Westside Timbers and Seattle United to improve their National League record to 4-3-0.

The B2003 side went 1-1-1 on the weekend, allowing just one goal as they moved to 4-4-1 in National League play. They opened with a win over Washington Rush before suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to WPFC and playing to a scoreless draw against Crossfire Oregon.

Tournament Play

The G2004 Shale side was also in action, reaching the Final in the Winter Classic’s Premier 2 bracket. The ladies won both games on Saturday against ISC Gunners and GS Surf by matching 5-1 scorelines, before falling to TC United Sunday. In the semifinals they downed FME Fusion 2-1 but were unable to stop TC United in the rematch for the championship.

The G2007 Valley Rave side also went unbeaten on the weekend with a trio of draws in the Premier Bracket against United PDX (2-2), Seattle Celtic (4-4) and PacNW (1-1).

Also advancing to elimination play in a Winter Classic Premier 2 bracket were the G2009/10 girls. They rebounded from a narrow 1-0 loss to Eastside FC with a 2-0 win over PacNW and a scoreless draw against ISC Gunners, but were knocked out in the semifinals by Seattle Celtic.
