With two games remaining on their slate, the 2005 Spokane Sounders Rave Boys head into their final weekend of the league season having clinched the U14 RCL1 Championship.

The season started out with a fantastic eight-game win streak, giving the side a commanding advantage in the table. The team, which also went unbeaten (2-0-4) in the Far West Regional League, locked up the league title with wins in their last three games.

“Overall, the goal is to win. We have the talent to win things, win trophies. The group is full of competitors,” said coach Jesse Retan. “We also want a steady upward trend of growth and learning and always look to perfect our game. They play some fantastic football, and build steadily from our half into the oppositions half and always look to control the ball and out pass teams with pace and open teams up with our ability to move off the ball.”

Adrien Ferrasse, Tasyn Oosting and Zac Olson were among the leading scorers and creators in the attack with Kye Welch and Elijah Reeves also involved as the Sounders have registered 52 goals in 16 games.

Tynan Silva, Cam Kreider, Ayden Aberasturi, Ryan Fagerland and Joe Parry guided the midfield with centerbacks Logan Mueller and Cody Helbling patrolling the back line with Kaden Jones and Micah Bucklin and Dean Figueroa-Romero. The centerback duo showed great poise, playing calmly under pressure with their feet, tackling and reading of the game.

Landon Coddington, a stalwart in goal, has steadily improved and has been brilliant all season, making fantastic saves all season and showing great skill in claiming possession and picking out a pass in distribution to start the attack.

You can support the team at their home league finale Saturday at 12:30 at Merkel as they take on second place Crossfire Premier.
