The Spokane Sounders and Shadow are excited to announce that Christo Michaelson will be returning to the club as part of the DPL coaching staff beginning with the upcoming 2024-25 season.

“I’m really excited to get back and work with the club again,” said Michaelson. “I had a great experience the first time around and I’m eager to continue to try and help grow the game and the players to the best of my ability.”

Michaelson is returning to the club after previously spending a few seasons with teams in the U10-U12 program. He was a standout player at Gonzaga University (2014-17), where he made nearly 60 appearances in the midfield and was a 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Div. I Men’s All-Far West Region Third Team recipient, along with being named All-West Coast Conference Second Team. After a brief professional stint with Reno FC (USL Championship) he began his coaching career at his former high school Jesuit HS (Portland) as an assistant, helping guide them to a state title in 2018. He then helped lead Corban to a Cascade Conference title before returning to Spokane.

“I am excited to add Christo to our coaching staff on the DPL side for the upcoming season,” said upcoming DPL Director Bryan Hernandez. “His experience as a player and coach will help our teams out tremendously throughout the season.”
