The Spokane Sounders and Shadow are excited to announce that Bryan Hernandez has been appointed as the DPL Director beginning with the upcoming 2024-25 season.

The California native from Humboldt University has quickly grown into a leader in the club since originally joining as a goalkeeper for the Shadow Men’s First Team in 2017. He worked with many of the club’s keepers during his playing career and became the Goalkeeper Director in 2021, working with players throughout the club’s structure on both the boys and girls sides.

“I am excited to take on the role as the DPL Director for the upcoming season,” said Hernandez. “The reasons why I decided to partake in this pathway is that the club and I share the same vision, same passion and share the same level of trust. These qualities are what I look forward to in regards to working alongside our other directors and coaching staff.”

Hernandez, who is also currently the coach of the B2007 and B2008 ECNL RL sides, has also served as goalkeeper coach for Gonzaga University the past four seasons as well as working with several other programs such as Whitworth, North Idaho College and CC Spokane.

“We are very excited to announce that Bryan will be the Director for our DPL teams,” said Girls Director of Coaching Kevin Moon. “Bryan brings a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach. He has played and won a national championship at the highest level that youth soccer has to offer at the time he was playing (the Developmental Academy) and has coached as an assistant and GK coach at Whitworth University and Gonzaga University. Bryan’s influence is already making an impact and will be seen as we continue to announce new coaches for our DPL teams in the 2024-25 cycle.”
