The summer tournament season has been blazing hot for teams in the club with this past weekend the pinnacle thus far as the contingent of teams that traveled to California showed extremely well at the Surf Cup and Silverlakes Summer Showcase.

The B2003 and B2002 ECNL sides found success at the Surf Cup in San Diego, particularly the 03s. Both started things off unbeaten in their first two games respectively, but while the 02s would finish 1-1-1 in the U18 Best of the Best bracket, the 03s put forth an eye-opening runners-up performance over the weekend. They finished group play in the U17 White bracket 3-0-0 with wins over Fusion FC (3-2), Marin FC (2-0) and PSPL Surf Academy (3-1) with only a pair of penalties and a free kick allowed, and then added a 3-0 victory over La Roca in the semifinal. The championship contest went the distance scoreless and needed extra kicks from the mark before they suffered heartbreak at the hands of Santa Monica United Blue in the seventh round of the tiebreaker as they finished unbeaten for the tournament.

Meanwhile not too far away in the greater-LA town of Norco, a foursome of girls sides were tearing it up as well at the Silverlakes Summer Showcase. The G2005, G2004, G2003 and G2001/02 girls ran the table with victories in all 12 games during the event. The G01/02 ladies edged Pateadores Irvine Discovery 2-1 in the opener before rolling against Legends FC SFV and Phoenix Premier Black. The G03 girls blanked CDA FC Slammers Elite and LA Surf CV before winning a 4-3 thriller against Manteca Futbol Club United to finish things off. The G04 Rave finished with just one goal allowed while scoring three in each of their wins against Heat FC RL, LA Galaxy Orange County Gold and Arizona Arsenal SC. Similarly the G05 girls dominated with only one goal allowed as they tallied a dozen total in wins against Palo Alto Soccer Club Blue, Slammers FC and RSL AZ DPL.

In prior weeks the club also saw some success at the Crossfire Challenge as well. The B02 and B03 ECNL sides advanced to the knockout stages of the event with unbeaten records (2-0-1 and 3-0-0, respectively) in the Super brackets before bowing out in the semifinals. On the ladies side the G01/02 girls also went 2-0-1 before falling in the Super bracket semifinals and the G04 Shale claimed the Silver bracket championship with a group sweep, a 4-1 semifinal win against Crossfire Premier B, and a 1-0 victory against Hawaii Island Chicas to cap it off.

Also on the west side, the G05 Shale and G04 Blue teams did well at the Sounders FC Cup. The G05 Shale ladies were 3-1-0 in the Rave Green bracket and the G04 Blue girls were 2-0-1. Both, unfortunately fell in their respective finals.

And literally on their home fields, a handful of teams grabbed some hardware this past weekend at the River City Cup with three teams finishing first and another two second. Three teams reached the GU11 Finals with G09 Valley downing host FC Spokane in the Gold bracket and G09 Valley Shale topping the 2010 Sounders Juniors, who were playing up, in the Silver. On the boys side the B09 South Rave team avenged their lone loss of the tourney in the Final against a host FC Spokane side for the BU11 championship and the B08 South Rave boys finished as runners-up in the BU13 bracket.
