The Spokane Shadow are excited to announce that longtime club coach Cameron Bushey has been appointed as the new Girls Academy Director of Coaching for the club beginning with the upcoming 2024-25 season.

“Over the past 15 years, I have served the club in many different ways, coaching and directing with the youngest ages to the oldest,” said Bushey. “I know first-hand youth soccer in Spokane is as impressive as it is because of [Girls Director of Coaching] Kevin Moon and [Technical Director] Abbas Faridnia. I want to thank them both for this opportunity and for the support they have shown me and my family throughout. I look forward to serving our players and our families, and I look forward to helping the best youth program in town continue to succeed.”

After a stint coaching collegiately in California Bushey recently returned to the club as well as the Whitworth program, taking on the role of the G05/06 GA coach and Whitworth Women’s head coach. The new post with the club continues his path of following in his father Sean’s footsteps as Sean Bushey was the Shadow’s Technical Director from 2007-13.

A second-generation director in the club, he provides a wealth of coaching experience to the program’s players that includes eight years in the club, three years at Colorado Rush and six years of collegiate coaching at Gonzaga, Stanislaus State and Whitworth. His club coaching experience includes managing players such as former Shadow and professional NWSL player Kelcie Hedge and former Rush product and current US international Lindsey Horan.

“We are excited to have Cameron serving as GA Director in the club that he grew up playing for,” said Moon. “He has a great deal of coaching experience at the college and club level and will bring new energy that will benefit the players. It is an exciting time of growth for the girls side of the club and we are very grateful that Cameron will be a part of that process.”

As the club begins celebrating its 25th Anniversary Bushey’s appointment is a prime example of the club’s impact in developing excellence on and off the field, which has led to multiple generations returning to and continuing the growth of the Shadow family in the Lilac City.
