While leveraging the resources and expertise of the Spokane Sounders, the new Basin Sounders soccer club will provide youth soccer players, basin area coaches, and the overall basin soccer community with a unified purpose and vision for local soccer. This partnership establishes a working relationship with Spokane Sounders that allows basin area players the access to train and play games at the highest levels of youth soccer, while still maintaining strong ties with their local teams and coaches.

Basin area coaches will also be invited to open coaching clinics and demonstrations put on by Spokane Sounders. US Soccer grassroots coaching certifications will also be offered and will help develop soccer at all ages and levels in our community. Opportunities for coaching development will be a main priority of Basin Sounders.

“Crucial to the success of any soccer community is supporting its coaches, managers, and the people who make things work,” said Basin Sounders Director of Coaching Derrick Gonzales.

“Endeavour was founded with the goal of providing soccer players at all ages with high-level training throughout the year. Since its founding in 2012, Endeavour has cultivated and maintained groups of players that have stayed together into high school and been able to compete at the state level. Some of these players have gone on to play for Spokane Sounders, but have had difficulty maintaining their relationship with their local team. This partnership aims to overcome this obstacle through close collaboration with the two clubs.”

Basin Sounders will serve the entire basin, including Moses Lake, Ephrata, Quincy, Royal City, Mattawa and Othello.

Gonzales will serve as the Director of Coaching for Basin Sounders. He grew up playing soccer in Moses Lake for local recreational teams and CB United Soccer Club. He then went on to play for Spokane Sounders founding club, Spokane Shadow, which led to playing opportunities at the state and national level. He went on to play for Saint Martin’s University in NCAA Division II as well as the Spokane Shadow Men’s First Team. He is currently the Moses Lake High School boy’s soccer head coach. Gonzalez returned to Moses Lake in 2017 when he graduated and began coaching with Endeavour for the Boys 2004/2005 age group.

“My dream is to provide players from The Basin the same opportunities as those from larger, more connected areas, and maintain those opportunities throughout high school. There is so much potential for soccer in our area, but it requires that we are united in our efforts and intentional with what we have. My vision is that in a few years Basin Sounders will be known as a mecca for talent and opportunity. It is long overdue for this area.”

While the operation of the Basin Sounders will be local to Moses Lake and the surrounding community, management aspects will be supported by the experienced Spokane Sounders staff as well.

“Our club has long been a proponent of inclusion and providing opportunities for players throughout the Basin Area, and we are thrilled to create an avenue to more formalize that aspect as well as support the efforts of Basin Sounders on and off the pitch,” said Spokane Sounders Technical Director Abbas Faridnia.

    Good Morning,

So happy that someone has finally found a way….

As I am sure you are aware many of our girl 03/04 WNPL 1 and 2 players either play for spokane sounder, eastern surf and wenatchee united. The date of tryouts June 5 for this age bracket is actually the Washington Cup so all of these players with be at this tournament. So you would be missing a large percentage of high level players for your tryouts
