Spokane SC Shadow announced that MultiCare Rockwood Clinic is continuing as an official provider of sports medicine and orthopedic services for the club such as Athletic Training, Orthopedics, Primary Care Sports Medicine, Sports Physical Therapy, and Education in addition to providing on-site medical service for the Spokane Shadow First Teams.

Acquired by MultiCare Health System in July of 2017, Rockwood Clinic has been a leading provider in the Inland Northwest for sports-related medical services.

“We are very excited to solidify our relationship further with the Spokane Shadow, says Bryan Mueller, CEO of MultiCareRockwood Clinic. “The Shadow is a successful soccer organization providing an ideal venue for soccer athletes in the Spokane Area and we know that superior health and physical performance for these athletes are critical pieces in their overall athletic development.”

The relationship began in May of 2016 with Rockwood working with the Shadow First Teams.

“As we​ continually strive to provide the top resources in all areas to our members​, this was a big step forward in our progression as one of the elite clubs in the northwest as a whole,” said SSC Shadow Technical Director Abbas Faridnia. “We are excited to continue this arrangement services that are not typically available through most soccer clubs. This relationship has been a great asset for our players’ over the short-term in managing injuries, and helped them long-term in health and fitness.”

Dr. Chris Dewing M.D. will lead the team of sports medicine professionals that will provide an integrated approach to sports medicine. This approach allows for true coordination of diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation, therapy, and performance training to allow the athletes to return to their sport after injury. Quality, convenient, and expert care are hallmarks for Rockwood Clinic Integrated Sports Medicine group.

“Sports medicine is a growing medical sub specialty that requires the expertise and quality care of many individuals and we are pleased that our Integrated Sports Medicine group can provide all the services required by an elite athletic organization like the Spokane Shadow”, says Dr. Dewing.

Dr. Dewing is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Columbia University in New York, NY. Dr. Dewing is also a Commander in the United States Navy, currently serving in the Select Reserves. He has completed his orthopedic residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA, and studied sports medicine and hip arthroscopy at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO. He served at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego as Director of Sports Medicine and Hip Arthroscopy, training residents from the Uniformed Services and the University of California at San Diego. He also served as the primary orthopedic surgeon to the BUDS classes and the US Navy SEAL teams based in Coronado, CA
