With a record number of Spokane representatives in the US Youth Soccer National League Northwest Conference this season, nine of the 12 Spokane Sounders teams that are members of the US Youth Soccer National Leagues Program will kick off the heart of their 2018-19 campaigns at the Portland Timbers Alliance College Showcase this weekend.
The growth and further advancement of the Spokane Sounders over recent years has led to a record amount of teams from the city playing at one of the highest tiers of the sport in American Soccer in the US Youth Soccer National Leagues Program’s Multi-State Tier. The dozen sides compete against some of the best sides in the vast Northwest Region with an opportunity to earn a spot in the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships and the National Tier of the program.
“Providing our players a platform to showcase their talents, dedication and hard work is an avenue we want to serve our players,” said Technical Director Abbas Faridnia. “Spokane Sounders’ players, coaches and teams are continuing to make an impact statewide, and now regionally. Spokane has a record number of teams being showcased in the US Youth Soccer Northwest Division. We wish everyone safe travels, an enjoyable time, and success.”
Heading to Portland for the weekend are: the 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Rave Boys sides and the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Rave Girls teams. Also playing in the US Youth Soccer National League Northwest Conference this year are the 2005 and 2006 Rave Boys and 2006 Rave Girls teams.
