The opening weekend of the prestigious US Youth Soccer National League Northwest Conference play at the Portland Timbers Alliance College Showcase last weekend started off well for the ladies as they head into the spring. Several boys sides, meanwhile, kept themselves in contention with positive results.
GU19 – 2000 Rave :: The ladies were one of two in the nine-team group to finish unbeaten on the weekend. They won 2-0 against Eastside FC Reign Academy Friday and blanked Eastside FC Red 2-0 on Saturday, finishing up with a 2-2 draw against Washington Premier Sunday. With the extra game the ladies hold a one point lead at the top of the table following the opening weekend.
GU18 – 2001 Rave :: It was a perfect weekend for the ladies as they won both contests, downing Crossfire Oregon 1-0 Friday and Eugene Timbers 2-1 Saturday. The results have the side as one of the top two following the opening weekend as Capital FC Timbers got an extra point from a third game played.
GU17 – 2002 Rave :: The ladies won their first two games, downing Eugene Timbers 4-2 Friday and Eastside FC 2-1 Saturday before falling 2-1 to Washington Rush Sunday. The results put the side in the leading trio after opening weekend.
BU19 – 2000 Rave :: Won their opening match 3-2 against Eugene Timbers Saturday before falling 5-3 to Westside Timbers in the second game Sunday. They are fourth in the five-team group with a shot at second in their final game in January as they sit four points back of the leaders.
BU17 – 2002 Rave :: They won their opening game 1-0 against Boise Timbers and dropped a narrow 4-3 contest against Eastside Timbers. Though they sit fifth at 2-3-0, they are only seven points back of the leaders with three games remaining.
BU16 – 2003 Rave :: After falling 3-0 to local side FC Portland Friday they rebounded with a pair of wins, downing Boise Timbers 6-2 Saturday and PacNW 2-1 on Sunday. The results put the boys third in the NW Conference table with a 3-3-0 record with three games remaining and a four point gap from the leader.
