Spokane Sounders Earn High School Honors

Devin Hauenstein and Isaiah Damschen were recognized this spring as the Offensive and Defensive MVPs for the Greater Spokane League, leading a contingent of 18 other players that were recognized by the GSL, GNL and NEA.

Hauenstein and Damschen helped lead Central Valley and Gonzaga Prep, respectively, to the postseason in their senior seasons. Hauenstein finished the campaign with four goals and four assists during league play while serving as a team leader for the Bears. Damschen posted a phenomenal season in goal for the Bullpups, finishing the league season with five shutouts, which was tied for the most for all goalkeepers in the GSL, MCC, GNL and NEA with the keeper from Lakeside, which completely dominated the NEA this season.

Damschen was not the only keeper from the club with an outstanding campaign. Sophomore Jadon Bowton and junior netminder Jaymon Manzi were recognized with All-League recognition as nine players from the club were recognized with First Team awards and another five on the second team for the GSL.

Damschen and Hauenstein were also named to the Honorable Mention on the All-State lists while Bryan Maxwell was honored with an All-State Second Team nod thanks to Lewis & Clark’s league title and postseason run to the state quarterfinals before bowing out to eventual state champion Pasco.
