Spokane Sounders Announce Coaches, Plans for Girls U13 and Older

Among the changes for the upcoming campaign are the addition of Jesse Retan, Marissa Mykines and Ali McCready to the staff for Girls Academy teams.

“We are really excited to have the opportunity to add Ali, Marissa and Jesse as they all have deep ties to the club,” said Girls Director of Coaching Kevin Moon. “Ali is one of our longest serving coaches and has worked with some of the best teams we have produced when they were at this age, her emphasis on laying the proper foundation players can grow from directly impacted their success as they grew older. Marissa was one of our most successful club players winning three state championships with the club and was a major contributor to the University of Illinois soccer program in college. Jesse is a former youth player turned beloved soccer coach that everyone in the soccer community respects as he is not just a great teacher of the game but also puts his player’s well-being at the forefront of his focus. These additions have dramatically strengthened our Girl’s Academy coaching staff and I am extremely excited to see what the long term impact will be now that we have them involved!”

Altered by the pandemic this spring, the Girls Academy teams will begin their first full campaigns in the 2021-22 season, facing elite clubs from around the region and northern California along with traveling to multiple Girls Academy events around the nation similar to the recent GA Florida event a handful of teams participated in last month. In addition to their league schedules, RCL sides will also play in a number of tournaments such as Crossfire Challenge, Surf Cup, Pac Northwest Showcase, Players Showcase, Las Vegas Mayors Cup and local home event Northwest Cup.
