The Spokane Shadow Women’s First Team is back! And they are set to go with a road trip this Saturday to face OSA XF to open the 2022 WPSL season.

After a two-year hiatus for the pandemic, the region’s premier women’s side returns to action this season looking to compete once again for the crown as the top team in the Northwest. The team debuted in the league in 2019 with a 5-3-0 record, finishing third before being sidelined the past two seasons.

“We are thrilled to be back on the pitch this year,” said head coach Kevin Moon. “We had just gotten things going and were excited at where the future was headed when things were derailed in 2020.”

The team will be playing at Whitworth University for the three home contests this season in the month of June with three road contests to kick things off and another two to cap the campaign.

The roster for the opening road trip will – much like the debut 2019 campaign – feature a mix of collegiate and top youth prospects, some of whom will finish their Girls Academy league season on Sunday at home at the Polo Grounds for the Spokane Sounders. Among the college contingent will be Gonzaga standout Sofia Braun, who is also a member of the Argentinian Women’s National Team.
