The Spokane Shadow are pleased to announce the addition of Whitworth assistant women’s coach Mackenzie Bone to the Shadow coaching staff.
Bone, who holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, joins the club with three seasons of experience coaching at her alma mater, where she played in 2017 and 2018 before finishing her education at Eastern Washington. The Redmond, Wash. native began her career with two seasons at Point Loma Nazarene University prior to returning to the northwest.
“I’m truly excited to welcome Mackenzie to the club as a coach,” said Shadow General Manager Drew Williams. “She brings high-level playing and coaching experience from Whitworth University and Point Loma, along with her role as an assistant coach with our Women’s First Team.”
“Beyond her soccer background, she’s a physical therapist here in Spokane who genuinely cares for people and pours energy, joy, and intention into everything she does. She’s a teacher of both the game and life, and her impact is felt the moment she walks into a room. I’m incredibly grateful to have Mackenzie’s passion, expertise, and heart helping shape our players and our club.”
Since completing her Doctorate at Eastern Bone has worked at a PT at U-District PT Downtown and has been serving as an adjunct anatomy professor at Whitworth.
This past summer she was introduced to the Shadow through Williams as the assistant for the Women’s First Team.
“I enjoyed working with the Spokane Shadow Women’s First Team this past summer alongside Drew and growing the competitive women’s environment in Spokane,” said Bone. “I’m eager to get started with the youth side of the club to continue this goal and to learn/grow as coach and leader in a new environment.”
