G2008 Headed to DPL Finals

Playoff season continues this week when the G2008 ladies head off to SilverLakes Complex in California to compete in the 2024 DPL Finals, which kicks off June 26. The club is also excited to share that G2008 Lindsey Davis and G2005/06 Ayanna Tobeck were selected this season for the DPL PERFORM National Games.

The squad dominated the season with a 7-1-1 record in the Northwest, finishing second by a three-point margin to 8-0-1 Seattle Celtic. The ladies were an offensive machine during the season, scoring at least three goals every time they took the pitch at an average of 4.6 per game.

“As the defending NW Conference champions last year, the team made it a priority to qualify for Nationals again this year,” said coach Dave Ellis. “Despite some significant injuries, they were able to achieve that goal. Impressive showings in Colorado helped provide great national exposure, and we look for that to continue in Colorado.”

The ladies also dominated at the DPL Spring Showcase in early May, going 3-0-0. They opened with a 3-1 victory over San Diego Surf and made it a sweep of three California sides with even bigger results against Santa Barbara SC (5-1) and Santa Monica Surf (4-1) at the Air Force Academy complex in Colorado.

In addition, the squad played well in the DPL cup competition at the DPL Summit in Dallas in early March despite being fresh out of winter training mode. After dropping their opener they rebounded with a 3-1 win against Monterrey Surf and came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Rhode Island Surf.

DPL PERFORM National Games

Lindsey Davis and Ayanna Tobeck were chosen as the best of the best from their play throughout the season for the program and Davis will be competing on the U16 squad June 28 at the SilverLakes Complex during the DPL Finals this week. Her play at the event could lead to further opportunities to join the DPL PERFORM International squad for a trip to Barcelona November 24 to December 1.
