Final Cupdate & 2018-19 Spokane Sounders Rewind

The final weekend of State Cup and President’s Cup play highlighted by the G2001 State Cup title wrapped up a fantastic 2018-19 season for the Spokane Sounders in league and cup play.

The G01 ladies took care of business in the semifinals with a 2-0 victory against Kitsap Alliance on Friday evening and then captured their third consecutive championship in convincing fashion with a 4-1 victory against Washington Premier Black B in the final. The G04 Rave girls also reached the final of the U15 tournament with a 1-0 victory over Washington Rush A in the semifinals and were heartbreakingly close to the title as they battled Eastside Reign Academy 2 to a scoreless stalemate that was decided at the spot and saw them finish as runners-up following a 5-4 result in the tiebreaker.

The G03 Sounders were knocked out of the the U16 tournament in a narrow 2-1 loss to WPFC Black B in the semifinals and the run for the G00 Rave ladies came to a close in the semifinals against eventual U19/20 champion Washington Rush

Looking Back at 2018-19

There were a couple of major stories this year for the Spokane Sounders program.

On the girls side…

Marking a first in Spokane soccer history, the 2001 Spokane Sounders Rave girls captured the U18 Girls Northwest Conference Championship in the USYS National League.

The ladies bested their elite peers in the Northwest Conference with a 4-0-1 record that earned the team an automatic berth for the Far West Regionals, adding to an already successful resume that includes a pair of state championships and a semifinal appearance in the Far West Regionals two years ago. And on the boys side…

With an RCL-2 championship the Spokane Sounders 2006 Rave boys provided a historic moment for the club as their promotion marked the first time in club history that a boys Spokane Sounders team would be in each age division of RCL-1 in the 2019-20 season, including two defending champions.

That news was later added to with the announcement that the Spokane Sounders boys were being added to the new ECNL Boys Northwest Conference in 2019-20 in the U14 to U18/19 age groups. MORE [+]
