Cup Season: Forward Progress for Spokane Sounders

Quarterfinal and Group Play action over the weekend saw success continue for the Spokane Sounders with six teams advancing to State and President’s Cup Semifinals this weekend in addition to more qualified and in the running for the following weekend’s event.
Two sides will be in action in State Cup semifinals this weekend and another four are in President’s Cup Final Four, including a pair in the U12-D2 tournament that will square off against one another for a shot at a spot in the final. A further two teams have locked up State Cup semifinal spots for the following weekend with another team in the President’s Cup quarterfinals this weekend and a further three still in the mix for State Cup Final Four spots as they wrap up group play.

B2005 Rave – State Cup – The team was idle last weekend as there were no quarterfinal rounds. The Boys kicked off their U14 tournament with a 2-0-1 record in group play with wins against Eastside FC White B and PacNW Maroon A on either side of a 2-2 draw against WPFC Black A to reach the Final Four this weekend.
G2005 Rave – State Cup – Idle last weekend as there were no quarterfinals, the ladies finished with the best mark in U14 tournament group play at 3-0-2, advancing to the Final Four this weekend with a four-point margin. Their run started with a pair of wins over FS Surf A and Whatcom Rangers Gold. They then played to a pair of 1-1 draws against Snohomish United Black A and Washington Timbers Red 1 before wrapping up with a victory against Eastside Reign Academy 2.
G2006 Shale – Presidents Cup – The ladies advanced to the U13-D2 tournament semifinals at Starfire with a narrow 1-0 victory at home against Snohomish United Red B Saturday. They face Whatcom FC Rangers Blue in the Final Four.
G2007 City Rave – Presidents Cup – After dominating their U12-D2 group they continued that roll with a resounding 10-0 win Saturday against visiting Crossfire Premier C – a team that allowed just five goals in their four group games – in the quarterfinals. They face FWFC White in the semifinals Saturday.

B2007 South/Valley Rave – Presidents Cup – After sweeping through their U12-D2 group the boys registered a 2-0 victory at home Saturday against PacNW White C to advance to the semifinals and a showdown with fellow club side City Rave, ensuring a Spokane Sounders team in the President’s Cup Final.
B2007 City Rave – Presidents Cup – After a 3-1-0 slate in group play the boys took care of business on the road against NSC Green Fuerza in the quarterfinals. They now face fellow club side South/Valley Rave, guaranteeing a Spokane Sounders team in the President’s Cup Final.
Still in Group Play
G2000 Rave – State Cup – The ladies split their first two games in the U19/20 Bracket, falling narrowly to GS Surf A in the opener of the group before rebounder with a 1-0 win against PacNW Maroon A. PacNW, however, avenged the loss last weekend to tie things up, but are done with their slate, giving the Sounders a shot of advancing with a point in their final match.
G2001 Rave – State Cup – The ladies swept their first three group games to clinch a spot in the U18 semifinals along with WPFC, who they will face in their final group game this weekend at the Polo Grounds.
G2002 Rave – State Cup – The ladies head into their final match of the U17 group with some hope of still advancing to the semifinals as they host bottom side Seattle United Sunday while PacNW, which holds a three point lead for second is playing leader Washington Rush.
G2003 Rave – State Cup – The ladies are on a roll in the U16 tournament with three wins in three games for the group lead. They hold a three point lead over GS Surf A and Washington Rush, who they host Saturday in the final group match before the semifinals.
G2004 Rave – State Cup – In the U15 bracket the ladies opened with a big win over PacNW Maroon A and then played to a scoreless stalemate against Eastside Reign Academy 2. They face both again to finish up the group. A draw between the other two last weekend ensured a semifinal berth for the Sounders, who have a shot at the top spot as they trail Eastside by just a point.
G2003 Shale – Presidents Cup – In the U16-D2 bracket the ladies finished the sweep of their group with two more wins against Kent United Green and FME Fusion Tagoal. They host Seattle United SH Blue Sunday in the quarterfinals at 12:30.
