The opening portion of the college season featured a lot of great starts to the season for club alumni, including Player of the Week nods for Margo Schoesler (Idaho) and Jadon Bowton (Washington).

Schoesler struck for five goals over the course of a four-game scoring streak and netted Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors. Bowton started all 11 for the Huskies with a record of 4-2-5 and a 1.00 GAA, earning Big Ten Keeper of the Week honors following a 2-0 shutout win that included a pk stop against #20 Northwestern in the program’s conference debut.

At Gonzaga Chris Swider had a similar start to Schoesler for the Zags with five goals in the opening four games of their season, and Cullen was equally impressive at Seattle Pacific, making history by tying the single game records for saves in a half (7) and game (13) as she has helped the Falcons get off to a 2-1-2 start.

Speaking of the Zags, the alumni-loaded ladies squad opened up the season 5-5-1 with Chelsea Le, Makayla Werner, Emily Todd, Abbie Sicilia and newcomer Erin Ewers seeing a good amount of time on the pitch. Werner has not missed a minute of action on the back line and Le has two goals in her eight starts. Ewers, who transferred over the summer, has started seven games with two goals and an assist and Todd has caught fire of late, becoming a starter over the last five with a pair of goals.

Also close to home, the Whitworth squads are off to positive starts with a number of alumni have been playing for the Pirates. On the men’s side under club coach Kevin Moon Clayton Crockett has a goal and three assists off his eight starts. Also starting all eight games has been Johnny Finnegan. Caden Martin has a goal so far this season and Dawson Heuett has been a regular contributor for the squad.

On the women’s side the alumni have played key roles for Whitworth under club coach Cameron Bushey. Yacine Bitibale has a pair of goals with Baylee Trejo and McKenzie Lembcke each providing a pair of assists. Rebekah Hines has six starts and freshman Sarah Ringland two appearances.

And at CC Spokane the ladies are off to yet another impressive start via alumni contributions. Reese Walker has three goals and an assist in five games with Elise Jones also recording a tally and Kaiti Low a pair of assists. Karlee Whitehead has started all five and the duo of Brooke Suter and Ana Thompson have a combined nine appearances. Another club alum, Kyla Hughes, meanwhile is off to a great start at rival NWAC powerhouse Peninsula with two goals in seven appearances as a freshman. On the men’s side the duo of Parker DeAndre and Andre Layman have been contributing to positive start for the Bigfoot.

Venturing a bit further away from home…

Whitworth rival Pacific Lutheran has been enjoying the contributions of Liv Olson, who has started six of seven. The Lutes are 4-1-3 and started the league 3-0-1. Abby Morrow is also playing well at Lewis & Clark with starts in all five games for a 3-1-1 start with an assist on her account.

Heading south to Oregon Livvy Moore is off to a strong start with the Ducks, starting seven of 10 appearances and scoring her first career goal.

Eastern Oregon started the preseason nearly unbeaten at 1-1-2 and split their league openers with Kaydence Martinez, Emersyn Heuett and Sienna Newhouse contributing.

At Utah Tech under former club coach Lexi Brown a pair of alumni are off to good starts. Kyah Le has a pair of assists in 11 starts and freshman Bre Koscielski has started all 11 games and has a tally on her ledger.

Also, in the southwest, Bryce Allred has a goal and assist for UNLV; Ella Carnahan has a goal and assist for 5-2-2 Embry-Riddle AU; and Cadence Peroff has a goal for Arizona Christian in her five starts.

In California Zoe Crockett continues to impress at Point Loma with five starts and a goal in their 3-1-1 preseason slate, and Alex Reyes has a goal for Westmont in their 2-0-3 start alongside Donovan Howat, who has started all five.

Just a little bit further away in Kansas Lizzy Gresch is enjoying a good start with Benedictine with a goal and assist through a 5-3-1 start to the season.
