Boys ECNL News Release – Wednesday, April 24, 2019

The Boys Elite Clubs National League is excited to announce the addition of two clubs to the newly created Boys ECNL Northwest Conference for the 2019-2020 season – Spokane SC Sounders and Washington Timbers.

With over 80 teams in the club from Under-9 up through NPSL and WPSL, Spokane Sounders offers a pathway for players in eastern Washington from youth to pro, based at the first-class, 27-acre facility Spokane Shadow Polo Fields.

“We are humbled and grateful for our acceptance into the Boys ECNL,” said Abbas Faridnia, Technical Director for Spokane SC Sounders. “We are ecstatic to be part of a league that will further the development of our players at the highest level available in our region and the opportunity to maximize college exposure for our players.”

Based across the Columbia River from Portland, OR, the Washington Timbers join the Boys ECNL from Vancouver, WA. The Washington Timbers play out of Harmony Sports Complex and have claimed national championships across both US Club Soccer and US Youth Soccer platforms in the past.

“We are very excited to join the top clubs in the state of Washington and around the country in the Boys ECNL,” said Washington Timbers Technical Director, Robin Bostwick. “This opportunity will provide the boys in our club high level competition and the best college preparation and recruiting pathway in our area.”

The Boys ECNL was formed to provide a top level, club-based development, training, and competition platform for youth male soccer players, with conference competition in five age groups (U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18/19) and collegiate exposure through multiple Boys ECNL National Events. In addition to the competition platform, the Boys ECNL offers player identification and development opportunities for top players, as well as unique coaching education and club development programs. Top teams from every Boys ECNL conference qualify for the post-season ENPL Playoffs, along with top teams from US Club Soccer’s NPLs.

“Both Spokane SC Sounders and Washington Timbers will add real value to the Northwest Conference,” said Boys ECNL Commissioner Jason Kutney. “Both clubs offer full player pathways, youth to professional, exceptional facilities, and solid club infrastructure. We are excited to welcome them to the Boys ECNL.”

The top boys teams from Spokane SC Sounders and Washington Timbers will begin competition within the Boys ECNL in August 2019, as part of the 2019-2020 season.
