All-Alumni Roster Highlights Spokane Shadow WPSL Home Opener
Friday, June 17, 2022
After a two-year hiatus from action, the Spokane Shadow Women’s First Team will take the field at home for the first time this Sunday when they play host to Westside Timbers at Whitworth University. Kick off is 1:00 and admission is free.
The ladies head into the home opener with an unbeaten 1-0-2 record from road results this season, but the highlight of the day will be a roster completely comprised with Spokane Sounders youth alumni that have come together this summer from a myriad of collegiate programs.
“The ability to select a full group of 18 for a match at this level made entirely of players from our youth program is a testament to the quality of what the club provides its players from top to bottom,” said head coach Kevin Moon. “Many of these players spent years in the program and have moved onto highly competitive collegiate programs.”
The Women’s Premier Soccer League is the highest level of amateur soccer beneath the professional National Women’s Soccer League, which features a pair of club alumni (Kelsey Turnbow & Kelcie Hedge). The Shadow have routinely featured club alumni on the roster in previous seasons along with other area collegiate players and top youth prospects from the club preparing to graduate.
Sunday, though, will be a special moment as every player on the squad will be a returning college player or players headed off to their programs for their freshman campaigns this fall.

Season To Date
The Shadow opened the season May 21 on the road against OSA XF, picking up a point against the Crossfire (youth club) affiliated side. Oregon-bound Livvy Moore was the hero on the day as she provided a pair of equalizers in the second half. She tallied the first in the 65th to even it up and the second with four minutes remaining on a ball from Zoe Crockett for the 2-2 draw. The following day she scored several more as her Spokane Sounders squad wrapped up their final Girls Academy season at home.
A week ago the ladies hit the road again for a trip to Portland. They rallied from two down against the host Westside Timbers for a 2-2 draw on Saturday with a pair of goals from Chelsea Le. She netted the first on an 88th minute free kick and the equalizer on a stoppage time penalty. The next day at the same venue the Shadow picked up their first win 2-0. Baylee Trejo scored the opener with a quick finish after Isabelle Moultray (Gonzaga) had beaten a defender out wide to provide the service into the box. The Vandal duo of Maddy Lasher and Margo Schoesler combined for the second. Schoesler found Lasher in the width about 40 yards out. Lasher then drove inside toward goal, smashing an effort past the keeper from about 12 yards.
