The Spokane Shadow are pleased to announce the addition of Whitworth assistant men’s coach and former Shadow Men’s First Team player Beckett Arthur to the Shadow coaching staff.

Arthur, a native of Missoula, has been a staple of the Spokane soccer community since coming to Whitworth in 2021, where the Montana HS Gatorade Player of the Year earned the Northwest Conference Freshman of the Year and First Team conference honors. Following that freshman season he joined the Shadow in their return to the EPLWA, where they went on to claim the league title in 2023.

“We’re truly excited to welcome Beckett Arthur to the club as a coach,” said Shadow General Manager Drew Williams. “Beckett brings an outstanding playing background, from Montana Gatorade Player of the Year, multiple All-Conference honors at the collegiate level, and so much more but what really stands out is the person he is.

“As an elementary education major and a teacher in our community, Beckett has a genuine heart for people, learning, and development. A former Shadow First Team player, he knows what this club represents and cares deeply about serving our players the right way. We’re grateful to have his passion for the game and love for others shaping the next generation of Shadow players.”

At Whitworth Arthur went on to receive All-Conference honors all four years of his career, which concluded with 65 starts in 69 games, 30 goals and 12 assists. He also became a regular presence in the Spokane Shadow Men’s First Team lineup over the years as he built a new home in the Spokane community.

A 2024-25 graduate of Whitworth, he returned to his alma mater this past fall as an assistant coach for the Pirates under former longtime Shadow coach Kevin Moon and alongside Williams.

“I decided to stay in Spokane because I felt super connected with the people, as well as the town itself. Coming from Montana, it’s been nice to have a new area to learn and become familiar with.

“Playing soccer at Whitworth was an amazing part of my life and has shaped me in so many ways. I grew as a soccer player, but also as a person. Coaching at Whitworth – and now Shadow – gives me a way to stay involved with the game I love, as well as an opportunity to give back to programs that have poured so much into me.
